Best way into Florence From the airport

Great way to go. They run frequently and I believe you can transfer to another line at no charge. Buy your ticket for 1,50€ from the machines at the station. Don’t forget to validate your ticket once you board the tram.

I loved the tram! Easy to find as you walk out of the station, level entry into the tram car, and many stops in town. Reasonable cost.

The T1 tramway is 1.70€ now (increased last year).
It will take you to the SMN station.
If you have substantial luggage size the suitcase pays too (not sure about the maximum size for traveling free on the T1 tramway).

It’s very easy.
My tip is to buy your ticket from the little magazine/candy/tabac shop just before you exit the airport building.
If you plan to return by tram to the airport at the end of your trip, buy tickets for that journey there too and stash them away.
They are not active till you validate them, so they’ll keep.
The machines on the platform can be too busy with people trying to figure them out.

Turn left out of the building, walk two minutes, there is the tram platform.
Do not forget to validate/stamp your ticket in the little machine onboard.
After stamping, it’s good for 90 minutes, so if you’re going onward by city bus, you can use it there.
You will see others using the machines.
I believe the machines are yellow.
The last two stops on that line are right beside, and the other one right across from, SMN Railway station.
You can’t get lost.

I don’t know whether Florence has added tap and pay functions to their transport system yet, it’s two years since my last visit.
