Best way from Palatine Hill to Roman Forum?

I'll do the Colosseum, Palatine and Forum in that order. It would be great to be able to enter the Forum from Palatine Hill and I keep reading they're treated as the same site and that you can enter near the Arch of Titus, but Google Maps keeps throwing me off by telling me I need to get out of Palatine using Via Sacra, go around, and enter the Forum from the very end of Via dei Fori Imperiali, which seems like a waste of time.

Just follow the signs. You will be fine. It is all connected.

You can see one from the other. It will be obvious once you are on the ground

Use the Google Earth view - you will see the other paths.

There is an internal walkway that connects them. Just follow the signs. Googlemaps is showing you the entrances, not the walkway. Use googlemaps to zero in on the sites and you'll see the walkway.

All the posts above are exactly right.

That being said, why are you set on the order that you indicated? I didn't avail myself of one of the special tours of the Flavian Amphitheater (aka The Coliseum) but I actually got a better sense of ancient Rome on the Palatine Hill and in the Forum. I know this is controversial but the Coliseum was and is third on my list of these three. Impressive, a "must see," but a meh tourist trap in comparison to the other two sites.

I have to agree. The Colosseum is iconic and fascinating in its own way, but it is little more than a snapshot of ancient Rome. The Forum and Palatine have much more to say about Roman life and culture. There is more to New York City than just Yankee Stadium.

Thanks for the help!

Sean:

The reason I'm doing this order is to try to minimize crowds at the Colosseum by doing it early at 8:30. It's also the natural order from my path on this day, I arrive from the east side and then walk west into Piazza Venezia, the Pantheon and Fontana Trevi.
