Traveling to Italy in March and spending two nights in Venice with two teenagers (16 and 13) who will want in-room wifi, short walking distance to major sights, view of the canal, minimal walk from transportation to the hotel with luggage, and big bathroom. Venice is our last stop in Italy. Thoughts? Thanks!
Well my first thought is that if you want "short walking" and "minimal walk" then don't go to Venice. Venice is a jewel and all about walking and wandering and exploring. I love Venice and think it is a treasured city unlike any other in the world, but it's not an "Angelina Jolie" make-believe movie set with luxurious pampering all day long. It does require some work on the part of the traveler...and there are lots of steps and bridges wherever you go.
My brother-in-law and his family stayed at Ca'Segredo when we were in Venice together lat year and really liked it (we had an apartment).

Their two-room suite had a huge bathroom. It is right at the Ca d'Oro vaporetto stop, so you could use the vaporetto to reach San Marco. Or ride a traghetto (unique to Venice) across the Grand Canal to visit the Rialto Market and bridge.
It is right by Strada Nuova which is a major shopping street. ; )
|We loved Ca'Angeli. One room is right on the Grand Canal, as is the breakfast room. WIFI was strong and consistent. 24x7 attendant, too, which always makes me feel more secure.
Many holiday apartments in Venice, especially in the shoulder-season (like March) only require a two night minimum stay. A holiday apartment may cost about the same as a large "family room" and it will be much more comfortable and provide a bit of privacy as well. I rented a two bedroom (one with a queen bed and one with two single beds), two bath lift-served apartment overlooking Rio Marin just a five minute from the train station for less than $250 a night in the high season. There is no way I could have rented two moderate-quality hotel rooms for that (I spent months looking).
FYI... Look at the tide tables for Venice around the time of your planned visit. March is one of the months known for abnormally high tides (Acqua Alta) which can cause considerable flooding in Venice. Try to time your visit to at a period other than the full moon.
How about Hotel Belle Arti in Dursoduro? The Vaporettos 1 & 2 stop at the Zatere which basically is at the end of the block the hotel is on. If I recall correctly, no steps between you and hotel once off the vaporetto. At the other end of the block is the Accademia Bridge which gives easy access to St. Mark's area. The Accademia museum is right before you reach the bridge. There is a popular pizza place by the bridge and an ATM - or there was when I was there. There are some gift shops nearby along with cafes and restaurants.
They appear to have wifi. There is a garden. I think the location is super. Check it out on a map and visit their website.
