Best Tuscany Wine Guide

My husband and I will be in Florence in October of 2024 and would like to include 2 days of wine tastings in Tuscany. I'm looking for a wine guide with extensive wine knowledge in this region who can customize a 2-day itinerary for us. We are not interested in an average day trip to local touristy wineries. My apologies if this sounds snooty. We just really enjoy fine wines.

We will be in Tuscany at the same time and arranged visits to wineries in Chianti that were of interest to us but we will have a car. This company is well regarded on a wine website I frequent but I have no actual knowledge of the company and the woman who runs it; she has just been highly recommended by a number of people on the website who have taken tours.

There are a number of companies that provide wine tours out of Florence but my understanding is that you don't generally control what wineries are visited and to do that, you would have to hire a driver. Have fun and happy tasting.

Hi Patty,

I just returned from Italy and had the most fabulous time with Fabrizio, who runs Ciao Fabry Tours. I spent the entire day with him and visited a few incredible family run wineries. I have found that the larger wineries have their own guides and tours, but if you are loooking for something VERY special, take a look at Fabrizio's website (https://www.ciaofabrytours.com/). I had hands on experiences at the wineries, visited the fields, met the owners who took time to teach me about their passion of wine making, and sampled some of the best wine...and am guilty of even purchasing some to send home to enjoy! This tour was not touristy at all and I really felt I experienced something truely special.

In addition to an incredible day, I opted to have a private dinner at Fabrizio's home. He made incredible homemade pasta taught by his Mamma Mariella and he included wine from his private collection. I just can't say enough good things about this guy and look forward to touring with him again in the future...

Hope you have a wonderful time in Tuscany! -Norman

Thank you Tim & Norman for your kind replies. They are most helpful. Norman, the info you provided is exactly what we are seeking. We've traveled the world over, and so many of our trips were wine focused. We are in search of boutique wineries where we meet the owners, and the experience is very personal. I will contact the gentleman you mentioned and schedule our time with him. Dinner and wine at his house? What a memorable treat that will be. This is exactly what we are in search of while in Tuscany. Thank you!!
