I am spending 2 days in Venice, 2 days in Florence, and 3 days in Rome this October. What would be the best Rick Steves travel guide to get? I just purchased the Best of Italy guide and was very disappointed at the lack of information. I am used to the detail in his Paris guide book. Should I try his Italy guidebook or get the three full city guides, Venice, Florence, and Rome. It is my first time in Italy.
Hi and welcome to the forum, Crystal :O)
Could you explain a bit more why you found the "Best of" book lacking? What sorts of information are you looking for that it didn't provide?
Editing to add: I would expect that a book covering a country would contain more abbreviated coverage of individual places than one dedicated to just one city, such as Paris. Maybe the best idea is to visit the nearest bookshop and compare the RS single-city guides to the one you purchased to see which of them meets your preference?
The three city guides.
RS gives some guidance in the details online for each book. For example:

Look at the section "is this the right book for me?"
Can you borrow or download copies from your library to compare?
By "days" I assume you mean "nights" which is only 4 full days on your plan. Suggest 3 nights in Venice and the balance in Rome.
N_Kingdom bring up a good point. This:
I am spending 2 days in Venice, 2 days in Florence, and 3 days in Rome
this October.
To have two FULL sightseeing days in Venice and Florence, you need to be staying for 3 nights in each. For 3 FULL days in Rome, you need 4 nights. What is your plan?
