Best transit choice for early morning Rome to Vatican

In October we are staying at an apartment between the Forum and the Temple of Vesta (kind of between Capolitine and Palatine hills). We plan on taking the Pristine Sistine tour of the Vatican . . . but that starts at 7:35 AM. How best to get from our accommodations to our tour and how early do we need to set out?

In all honesty, at this time of the day I'd arrange for a taxi, just to be sure you're there on time. This is a great tour, and you'll see the Sistine in the nicest way possible. You can take a bus or the metro to return to your hotel.

I took this tour and went by taxi (reserved the night before).

Take a taxi and get there early. The meeting place (last I knew) is a nice bar where you can have a cappuccino and cornetto for breakfast.

I'm a little confused about where your apartment is as the Temple of Vesta is IN the Roman Forum. What's the address?

Yep, I wondered if that one was being confused with the Temple of Hercules Victor?

So on the off chance that they have a Roma Pass...
If they're near via dei Cerchi, getting to the Vatican by metro is another option. The Circo Massimo metro station (line B) is close by, and a quick change at Termini to line A to Ottaviano or Cipro stations would get them there. The metro is really easy, and probably the way we'd do it - even without the pass - if we didn't just walk it. I LOVE trotting about Rome in the early mornings before most of the tourists are out of bed but that' s a personal choice.

A taxi would, admittedly, get them closer to the meeting place, and save shoe leather for the tour if one isn't much of a walker.

Taking the OP's description at face value, the apartment could be in the Via dei Foraggi area. If so, that would make it a pretty long hike in the wrong direction to the Circo Massimo Metro station.

It would be about a 2-mile walk from Via dei Foraggi to the Vatican Museums -- a very interesting and doable walk if one is up to it. Otherwise a taxi is probably the best choice.

Jeff, I agree that it would really help to know exactly where this apartment is.

I agree with Laurel. We did this in May. We took a taxi to the cafe which was the meeting spot, and got there about 15 minutes early to have a quick bite. I wrote the name and address of the cafe down to hand to the taxi driver so he could put it in his GPS. It was about 10 euros or so from Plaza Navona, and well worth not worrying about getting there on time. Most others seemed to arrive by taxi, also.
The tour was great!

Jeff had it correct, the Via dei Foraggi area. And (while we are walkers) by this point we will be about 17 days into our trip (Venice - Tuscany-Florence-Sorrento-Rome), so we may want to save our feet and legs for the rest of the week in Rome.

Sorry for the confusion about where we are staying, I was looking at an Edizioni Lozzi map while shows the Temple di Vesta very near the Ponte Palatino bridge.
