My wife and I are coming from Matera to Salerno and then to Chiusi. Is this possible and the best route from Matera. Thank You

Unfortunately, trains from Matera don't go west. You can go to Altamura and catch the FAL train that travels from Bari to Potenza or take an FAL bus to Ferrandina and connect with a Trenitalia train to Potenza and from there on to Salerno. Another possibility is the SITA bus from Matera to Metaponto and train from there to Potenza and Salerno. The fourth option would be to take the FAL train from Matera to Bari and then Trenitalia to Naples and then down to Salerno. So yes, it's possible, but not as easy as one would like.

Thank You Janet. It sounds complicated. We may hire a driver from Matera to Salerno and then take the train from Salerno to Chiusi.

If you just hired the driver to Potenza, I think you'd be fine.

I just remembered ShuttleMatera.com. They will take two passengers from Matera to Ferrandina to meet the Trenitalia train for 40 euros.
