Best town to use as a base for Heart of Tuscany and Florence.

Wife and I will be in Tuscany week of May 6, 2023. Would like to know best place to use as a Base to tour the
Crete Senesi and Florence by Bus or Train. I understand that Florence is not good for cars.

From Siena's old town you can take a direct bus to Florence (1h 15) for the day. The Crete Senesi route is just south of Siena.
