Before you invest the time and energy finding a tour company, I think you should ask yourselves whether or not you are all in good shape (you'll be walking up and down hills, in towns where cars are prohibitied or severly restricted). If you can walk up 12 to 15 flights of stairs without too much stress, you should be alright...if not, I would suggest you skip the CT.

I'm 62, so I can say these things without guilt.

I'm not aware of day tours of the CT from Florence. Because the roads and parking are difficult in the CT, I'd be surprised if a conventional bus tour company could operate such a tour.

I'll wait to see if others can contradict me.

At a minimum, 6 hours of that day would be spent in transit. Your age doesn't tell me much - my wife and I are 60 and climb like mountain goats, but what about your group?
