I'm looking for a private tour guide or a tour company to give my family of 5 a tour of both the Colosseum and the Vatican Museums. We want to maximize our time while there and realize that having a private tour guide or a tour company will be the most efficient use of our time. I have Rick Steve's Italy book and he does list some companies and individual guides but I'd like to hear what others have to say and suggest based on personal experiences. We will have 3 teenagers with us so want tours to be engaging enough so the kids find it interesting.

We used The Roman Guy for a private tour of the Colosseum and Forum. Our guide was an archaeologist and was very informative. She tailored the tour to us. It was well worth the price for us. The next day we saw the same guide at the Vatican with someone else so the company also does that. She greeted us like we were old friends.
We would have used The Roman Guy for the Vatican and Sistine Chapel but we had a special tour for the blind since my husband is visually impaired. The Roman Guy would have provided an interpreter had we not had an English tour, but the museum provided an interpreter. I was impressed the Roman Guy would have worked with us for our special need, and they were glad for us that the blind tour worked through the Vatican.
