Heading to Italy in October and would like to do some tours. What's the best tour company? Viator, Walks of Italy or another?
Depnds entirely on where you are going in Italy.
In Tuscany Hills and Roads was fabulous for a driving tour. Minimum was 6 hours and you decide how much longer after that. We ended up on an 11 hour tour and loved every minute of it. Angela was our guide and she tailored the tour to exactly what we wanted. In Umbria Daniela at [email protected] was equally great. Do not let her email address mislead you. We did not do wine tasting or olive oil tasting on either driving tour but that was our choice. She too will tailor the tour to your taste. Both tours were the highlights of my trip.
Viator are not a tour company, they are a booking agency, and are a middle man for several different companies.
Depends on what you want to see and your time constraints to figure out which is best for you.
Also, location?
In Tuscany tours by Roberto was our favorite! Highlight of our trip.
Thank you all. So far we have booked a few tour/excursions in Rome and Florence with Viator and Walks of Italy. We will be in Cinque Terra and Lake Como as well but week not so any this. However, we will be four nights in Venice and are looking for a couple tours to do. Any suggestions?
I think you'll be pleased with your Walks of Italy tours. We took three, two in Florence and one in Rome. They were excellent, much better than the tours we took on our Viking River cruise.
Great to know you were pleased with Walks of Italy! Thank you!
City Wonders is also an excellent tour company for its Rome based tours.
Do be careful with Viator. You have no idea who the tour company will be. Best is always relative. We have always had very good luck going to the TI and booking local tours with recommendations from the TI. And Steves' books will recommend some Show and Go tours. One of the keys we now like is the wireless head sets. That has become very important to us.
