Our forum had a recent post to compile the best gelato spots in the major cities in Italy. I happily “took one for our team” and tried several this summer “to report back” - LOL!
During my last trip, it somewhat morphed from gelato into the search for fantastic tiramisu. So, what are your recommendations? Also, any to avoid? I will start:
Vicenza - several years ago, we had a tiramisu in a footed glass fishbowl container topped with small slivers of mango. I don’t remember the restaurant name; we ate dinner outdoors at the main piazza. It was delicious! Any hints?
Ferrara @ Trattoria Da Noemi - this gets voted as the best one during our recent trip! The perfect proportions of everything - fresh and wonderful flavor!
Amalfi @ Pizzeria Donna Stella, the restaurant up the hill with a garden canopy of lemon trees - we had a lemon tiramisu and a regular tiramisu. The regular one was very good & had a spoonful of hazelnut fudge at the bottom. The lemon one - skip it.
Rome @ Osteria al 31 - don’t order the tiramisu. It was the fanciest design with special piping, etc. but lacked both the right proportions and the taste that makes tiramisu perfect.
Rome @ Mr. 100 Tiramisu - we gave this one four thumbs up for best fun atmosphere, most creative, and a great location to return. We tried three of them - all were excellent, and would have returned the next day to try more if we were nearby.
