Best time to visit Vatican Museums; Early opening or Night opening?

Hi Travellers!

I am visiting Rome with my BF for one week in late September to see the ruins/art/architecture etc..., I am torn on when to visit the Vatican Museums. Should we go for the summer night opening on Fridays? It's from 7-11 pm (so would visit St. Peter's Basilica another day), our flight arrives in Rome just before noon on a Friday so hopefully we sleep well on the plane, or we can nap! OR, go for the early opening with breakfast on another day, which would be at 7:15 AM. I have read good things about both on TA, so I am not sure which to go with. The morning opening is more expensive I believe due to the breakfast that is provided but I don't really care about that. I am more looking for lesser crowds.

Thanks in advance,

KC

They are both good options. I would do the one that fits into your schedule the best. The thing to consider is during the night event not all of the galleries are open. This might not be an issue for you but it's something to look into.
