Traveling with group of 4-6 people to Rome, Florence & Venice in September. How early is "too early" to book apartments?

I don't think there is a too early. Matter of fact, I waited til Thanksgiving to book mine for my May trip. I wanted my Mom and I to choose together. By then, my fav 2 were already booked.

...same here! I'm in the middle of booking for May/June and my first two choices are gone! Sooner the better

The only way it's too early is if you have to provide a nonrefundable deposit before your travel plans are firmly in place.

Our trip this June/July has 7 apartment rentals; 2 for a week, 1 for 5 nights, 4 for 3 nights each. We booked the first one in mid-October & the last one in mid-November. It is never too early, especially if you are looking for something special or something of exceptional value. Often Europeans use the same rental year after year and will book a year in advance. Just be sure your flights and any other critical schedule-related details are worked out first.
