Best stops in Tuscany?? Volterra or Montepulciano or something else???

Two girls (in our mid thirties) cruising through Tuscany for a few days.... we like wine. Obviously. ;) We'll also be hitting Siena. Would you recommend Volterra or Montepulciano to go along with that.... or something else entirely? (Already been to Florence)

Thanks!

Volterra for alabaster and Etruscan history
Montepulciano for wine

But, there are some other cool towns near Volterra. Here is an idea. Go to San Gimignano and try the white wine Vernaccia (the grape). Then on to Volterra then to Pisa and Lucca

I really liked Volterra, it's small and I can't speak for the wine but the food was great and the views even better. Check it out along with San Gimignano. Fun drives, and you will run into loads of stops along the way, felt like I drove by dozens of wineries.
