best stay in Ravenna

We are traveling to Italy in May and would like to spend one night in Ravenna. Are there any recommendations on where to stay?

It's not a big town and very walk-able. In 2019 I spent two nights - did not book anything in advance, just booked what I found on Booking.com at the last minute. First night was at the Hotel NH which was a short walk from the train station toward the center. I spent the second night a a B&B-type place even closer to the center (I don't recall the name, found it on Booking.com.). Both were fine - the B&B was nicer, I preferred it to the NH which was fine just bigger and more of a business hotel.

I traveled by train, so having a car to park didn't factor into my plans at all. I'd want to stay close to the center, though.

We visited Ravenna as an overnight side trip from our month-long stay in Venice. We chose Palazzo Bezzi, a nice modern hotel which was an easy walk from the train station, and also walkable to most of the UNESCO mosaic sites. It was an excellent choice, and not at all expensive at that time (2013).

I've stayed at Palazzo Bezzi 5 times and love it! I visit yearly for the half marathon and it is super convenient to everything.

Since you'll be there in May, accommodations may not be as crowded as they were when I was there some years ago in September. Ravenna's location near the beach attracts more people in the summer months than would be the case if it had only the UNESCO works of art and architecture. I remember loud partying and vrooming motorcycles late at night outside my window, though I don't remember the name of the hotel.

Some time ago we stayed at the Albergo Capello for a few nights and it was great. Our room was huge, the bathroom was modern with a giant walk-in shower. Breakfast was very nice, a restaurant/bar offered happy hour and meals. We were worried when we arrived at midnight because of a train strike but the clerk was waiting for us with a smile as he opened the door and took our luggage from our hands. They made many xerox copies of material we needed and refused to accept a penny for paper or gratuity. I think it has AC. A minute or two walk to good restaurants. We enjoyed two dinners at the nearby Ristorante La Gardena…good food, friendly and helpful servers. Very fond memories of our time in Ravenna in addition to the extraordinary mosaics. Be sure to allow enough time for these incredible sights. . Safe travels.

I believe ?? Ravenna is serving as a cruise departure port so you may not want to wait too long to reserve and especially if your arrival coincides with departures or arrivals of many passengers who could also be looking for accommodations.

A very good point from Denny. Now that the bigger cruise ship arrivals/departures have been moved from Venice to Ravenna, I personally wouldn't drag heels on reservations. How this recent change will affect tourism numbers remains to be seen but I've a hunch that Ravenna is going to become a lot busier.

I have a Ravenna reservation for 2 nights in Sept
I booked about 2 months ago
At that time the NH Hotel was completely booked up, I assume with cruise passengers/groups since that is a business type hotel

I now need to change my dates and just hoping I can rebook without difficulty
I do think Ravenna is going to get busier so want to to check it off our bucket list sooner rather than later

I have M Club B&B booked for three nights this July. It's in RS book and gets good reviews.
