I'll be in Florence in May for a few days and have one day free for the city itself. If you have had experience with tour companies or particular tours, could you share some quick info? I used Localers in Paris and although they have tours in Florence now, the ones I'm interested in aren't on the days I need. BTW, Localers is FANTASTIC!! We took several tours with them last year and I'm going to take a few this year as well. VERY small groups, terrific guides!

I recommend Artviva. Not the cheapest but excellent. We did with them four tours: Florence walk, Uffizi Gallery, Accademia, one day bus tour around Tuscany. http://www.artviva.com
We toured with Paul Costa-Tuscan Tour Guide, starting in the the Accademia and ending at the Uffizi, with the walking tour between the two museums. We have taken many semi private and private tours over the years and my entire family and I thought he was the best (also most expensive!) guide we have ever toured with. I highly recommend him. You can find many reviews on TripAdviser. Enjoy your trip!

CORRECTION: Paul's website is tuscantourguide.com I second Paul Costa. We have been on 3 walking tours with him (2013, 2016, & 2017) and I just booked another for this fall on my birthday with my girlfriends! He is hands down the best tour we guide we have ever had.
