Hello. I'm staying at the Hermitage Hotel (east side of the Ponte Vecchio). Given my limitations with walking, my husband & I have hired a driver who will drive us to sites that would be difficult to get to myself. He's taking us to Piazzale Michelangelo and Santa Croce. Other ideas, please? Thank you!

You are right next to the Ponte Vecchio, but wondering if you can manage the walk to Pitti Palace? Decide how far you can walk comfortably , 1/8, 1/4 mile? 1/2? straight or with a rest stop? And then look on Google map or a real map and decide if you can walk it. Naturally, you will want to get a taxi or bus from airport or train station. I am going to Florence next month, skipping Santa Croce, as I've seen it, but taking the bus to Plazza Michelangelo. The taxi's and driver's are wonderful and not expensive.
