Best Sim Card company

My husband needs a cheap cell phone for our trip to Italy (just in case we get lost from each other). I'm looking at purchasing a BluTank II T193 phone on Amazon but will also need a SIM card. I want to purchase one here before we leave on our trip but in reading reviews, the more confused I get. Some of the reviews are really good & some are terrible. I've looked at cellomobile, Mobal.com, Roamsimple (Iroam), onesimcard.com, Ace Telecom (worldtravelsim.com), etc. I know I could easily get a sim card when we land in Italy but I don't want to waste time with that; I'd like to get it and test it before we leave plus I want the instructions to be in English which would not be the case if we purchase once in Italy. Does anyone have experience with any sim card companies & can you recommend a decent one? Thanks in advance. We leave 2 weeks from tomorrow so I need to wrap this up & order the sim card.

Sheron,

A few thoughts.....

Rather than buy a phone from Amazon, you could also consider buying one from one of the companies you mentioned. They're priced quite reasonably and that way you could take care of the phone and SIM card with one easy purchase.

I'm not familiar with all the companies you mentioned, but as you want to test it before you leave you might consider iRoam, as I believe their cards can be used both in the North America and Europe. Some of the the other SIM cards may only work in Europe, so you wouldn't be able to test the card until you arrive there.

Whichever firm you choose, if you order it this week, they should be able to FedEx the order to you so you'll have it well before you leave.

If you land at FCO there are a number of Vodaphone and TIM shops in the terminal at which you can purchase a tourist SIM card. The clerks normally speak English and will activate your card and answer any questions you may have. Check out the info on this site. If you want to activate it before you leave, look into T-Mobile's simple choice plan.
