Best route from Vienna to Amalfi Coast in the beginning of May.

Hello,

I need some help in deciding how to get from Vienna to the Amalfi Coast in the beginning of May. We have been to major cities in Italy and would like to go to the Amalfi Coast this time. We have only 5-6 nights depending if we leave on a Saturday or Sunday. I would like to visit Florence again and maybe Sicily. Any travel modes better over others? Buses, trains or just skip Florence altogether and fly from Vienna to Naples? Or any cities we should definitely see. Thanks for any suggestions. Nancy

I would fly from Vienna to Naples and then take the train to Salerno to get to the Amalfi Coast.
Settle that part first and then look at going to Sicily and Florence from there.

I agreed with Chi town Jazz. Fly to Naples from Vienna then head to Amalfi

The Amalfi Coast and Naples require a lot of time. Where do you fly out of? This could play a big role on how much you can see and how hard it is to get to your departure point on your return home.

Trying to do the 3 places you mention in 5-6 days is in my mind, a nightmare.

If you want to do Florence, the easiest solution may be a direct flight to Pisa and train to Florence and then train to the AC, or fly to Naples do a few days in the AC and then train to Florence.

Depending where your departure point for home is would be a factor in which order to do.

I have seen many comment that 6 days for Sicily is too few, so think you should focus on mainland destinations

Thanks for all and any reply’s. Of course I would like to have a few weeks in each area of Italy, but as I said we just don’t have that luxury. It seems like people are saying if you Don’t have weeks to go to a given area don’t go or rethink it. I only have 4-5 nights as I said.
Due to going to Vienna as a business trip with my husband we will have from Monday- Sunday to go wherever we want. We have chosen the Amalfi coast for the rest of our time. We can leave to go home from anywhere in Italy. I appreciate the flight, train and bus suggestions.

Sorry, what I was implying is that transportation around Naples and Sorrento require a lot of time. See bus and ferry timetables.

You have plenty of time to visit both areas.
