Greetings fellow travellers,
My hubby and I are seeking advice to plan the best route using trains and buses in late September/early October. After leaving Venice, we plan on spending 2 nights on Capri, 4ish nights in Sorrento, 2 nights in Matera and 3-4 nights in Bari. We then need to get back to Rome for our flight home.
In which order would you suggest is the most convenient?
Train to Naples to carry on to Capri/Amafi coast then on to Bari/Matera then train back to Rome?
Or would it be better to take the train to Bari/Matera first, then to Naples to get to Capri/Amalfi coast before heading back to Rome?
I'm thinking the former as it would be a more straightforward trip back to Rome, but perhaps that's not the most efficient.
Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I’d plug in both versions—Naples first vs Bari first—into the Trenitalia and Italotren search engines and see what works out better.
Or, I’d stay between Venice and Rome and not lose all that time in transit, just something to consider!
No matter which order you decide on you need to be in Rome night before your flight
