Best route from Siena to Tellaro?

We'll be driving from an agriturismo just north of Siena to Tellaro. It looks like we have a few different options, but is one route preferred over others? We'd like to take the more scenic route if that is an option. We'll have already spent time in Volterra, Pisa and Lucca so they're not a consideration for us with the routing. We also wouldn't mind making a stop somewhere along the way at someplace convenient.

Several days later, we'll be driving back to FLR and also have flexibility in our schedule to stop along the way for lunch or sightseeing.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks!

Lucky you--I love Tellaro!
I assume you are looking at Google Maps--I also would look at viamichelin's website, as it will give you more information (scenic, etc.). Just taking a gander, either of the northerly routes should be nice. The northernmost one gives the least time on the coastal road (SS1 on google, which I did not enjoy--a lot of trucks). The other one might let you avoid Florence traffic if that is a consideration.
Stopping always brings up the pesky luggage issue (yes, some have had their clothing stolen from a locked trunk), but I hear nice things about Pistoia.

Thanks very much. I've just started playing around with ViaMichelin and it offers a wealth of info. Our "perfect" route would avoid trucks and traffic as much as possible. At least we expect to be traveling late in the morning so hopefully traffic won't be that much of an issue.

I'll take a look at Pistoia, but understand your point about having things stolen. It doesn't look like all that long of a drive so we may just do it as a straight shot.

(And yes, we're definitely looking forward to visiting Tellaro. It sounds and looks lovely from everything I seen!)
