My husband and I will be driving through Italy in September and have 3 choices for the final leg from Assisi to Rome. Should we go through 1) Orvieto: 2) Narni/Rieti or 3) Spoleto/Arrone? WE love small roads, cultural sites, and small hotels. Thanks!

If you're spending a night in Orvieto I would suggest via Bevagna and Todi to O. Then do Bagnoregio on the way to Rome. That gives you a night and morning in Orvieto. Enjoy!

Take the Orvieto-Todi suggestion, eithe spend the night in Orvieto or start early and make it a long day. Be sure to drive around the beautiful city wall in Todi.
