what are some recommended restaurants in rome
Depends what you are looking for, formal/informal? small places? famous places? on a piazza? Pizza? Pizza on a Piazza? A view of the city?
Probably can search and find many similar questions with options, but in general, my strategy has always been to get off the main squares a few blocks and find the smaller places on a narrow street. If the menu or chalkboard has something you like, chances are it will be good.
Places I have returned to, mostly in the Trastevere area, Popi Popi, big casual place with solid Roman dishes. la Scala, on the Piazza Della Scala, more upscale with a good seafood selection as well as top notch pasta dishes. Dar Poeta, wood fired pizza, still good but has really gotten crowded as it's popularity has grown, if the line is short, go for it, if way out the door, find another spot. Also try to find a good enoteca, a wine cafe, most I have tried have been pleasant for a light meal.
All you need to know is on this site....I follow Katie Parla's recommendations when I travel to Rome.

After years of living in Rome, I found Katie Parla's recommendations and my taste and pocketbook did not intersect too often.
As Paul asked, what are you looking for? There are THOUSANDS of restaurants in Rome. Do you care where they are located or how much they cost or ????? You could also type "Restaurants Rome" in the search bar above and see responses over the years to similar questions.
