Best/quickest way from Lyon to Lake Como?

Hello again! Can anyone help me figure out the quickest way to get to Lake Como from Lyon? We are flying into Lyon, France and will be there a few days before heading to Menaggio, Italy.

I did a bit of research before we booked just to make sure it was doable and evidently I thought so but now I’m struggling to find the best way… I am a little panicked that Ive messed up and we will have issues. There is a group of 6 of us and we’ve already booked flights / Airbnbs so the schedule is set. We just need that particular transportation sorted.

Trenitalia just announced high-speed rail service between Lyon and Milano. You can book on the Trenitalia website. Depending on the trip you choose, it runs 5 to 6 hours. I saw a direct train leaving Lyon @ 8:35 am and arriving at Milano Centrale at 1:50 in the afternoon. From there you can catch a train to Lake Como or hire a car.
The train to Varenna leaves from Milano Centrale. From Varenna, it's a lovely 15 minute ferry ride to Menaggio.

The TGV no longer serves the central Lyon Part Dieu station on that Milan route, but the airport station, so the Trenitalia train is the best option!
