Best private wine tours from Florence

Hello all!

My husband and I are traveling to Florence in early May and want to take a private tour of Tuscany wineries. I’ve looked extensively online and there are quite a lot to choose from. We want one that serves up some of the best wines in the region with back knowledge on the wine making process itself. We definitely want a driver since we will be tasting as much wine as possible. Also, 2 or more winery stops with a lunch stop in there as well. We aren’t picky on the region of Tuscany but maybe further out from Florence than Chianti. Please post back with any tours (especially a Rick Steves recommended tour or guide) that were outstanding. Thanks Rick Steve’s family!

Well, since you haven't gotten any direct responses, I'll add a somewhat indirect/round the bend one. I have not taken a wine tour in Tuscany, though many recommend Tours by Roberto. However, I have taken an absolutely fabulous wine tour in Umbria, that has everything you asked for except proximity to Florence. If you have a little extra time, take a train to Perugia and book a tour with Gusto Wine Tours. Their one-day tour takes you to 3 boutique wineries, an education in a rarer varietal (Sagrantino), a delicious private lunch at a beautiful agriturismo, and Mark's British wit and customer care (chilled water in the van). My friends and I loved it in 2016.

However, if that's not feasible, Mark lists tours he recommends in other regions on his website here. Since I've met him, and follow his blog, I know that he cares about his customers and his reputation, so I'd happily follow one of his suggestions.

That's all I can suggest. Hope this roundabout answer leads you to something that works well for you.
