Best places to stay in Sorrento

Does anyone have recommendations for where to stay in Sorrento. My husband and I will be traveling with our 2 boys (ages 10 & 12). We currently have reservations at Antichi Mura and Hotel Tramontano but they are very expensive especially since we need 2 rooms.
Would love any and all suggestions!

thanks.

cathy,

You could have a look at Hotel Il Nido. It's on a hill above the town rather than right in the city, however they provide a frequent free shuttle. They appear to offer quad rooms, if that would be of use.

Cathy: Last spring we stayed at the Ulisse Deluxe - it's in Rick's Italy book. It's classed as a hostel, but is a beautiful hotel in a quiet area an easy walk from the main drag. It cost us 80 euro per night for a pleasant, quiet double room. There is an exta charge for breakfast - in fact, that was our only complaint: they wouldn't honor the breakfast price quoted in the RS guide. But 10 euro for a breakfast buffet on top of 80 or so for a room isn't exorbitant, especially if you're feeding two boys! And they evidently do have larger rooms; the 2014 RS book shows a rate of 150 for a quad. Do check them out; we enjoyed our stay there very much, and would gladly return.

I would highly reccomend " Villa Monica B&B" a wonderful, not expensive place that I´m sure your family would enjoy! ... super clean, wonderful views, great breakfast and amazing hosts. Feel free to ask me for more information if you´re interested and check its TA reviews, seems that everybody who has stayed there loves it! ( just like me and my family) ... Congratulations on your trip, I enjoyed traveling to that past of Italy very much!

A few years ago we stayed at the Hotel Mignon Meuble in Sorrento and we were pleased. Basic, affordable, comfortable, clean. Our room had a nice balcony...it overlooked a high school classroom, but that was added value for two newly retired teachers spending September anywhere but in a classroom for the first time in thirty years! Blue linoleum floors as I recall....not exactly high style. Breakfast was simple , people were friendly. About 10 minutes or so walk from the Sorrento train station, and a minute from hotel door to the Corso. Excellent location to my mind. Don't know how it prices out lately, but it was nice stay and we had no complaints. Safer travels.

I wouldn't stay any place but il Nido. Check them out - you can even get dinner included for a very reasonable price! Over several visits I have decided, for myself, that their restaurant is the best in Sorrento. "Sorry" to my former favorite, which I still go to at least once per visit.

Thank you for all of the replies.
Regarding il nido, is it the one in sorrento or amalfi?

Hotel il Nido in Sorrento. The shuttle drops you off and picks you up at a specific place designated for hotels. Very easy to get where you want to go from there. You're only a block from shopping, two blocks from the center of things, three or four from the cliffs. Sorrento is actually quite narrow and is very walk-able. For the hotel, make your reservations online - I see where they have some very good specials right now. In fact, excuse me but I'm going to make my reservation for a week's stay right now! Love Sorrento especially il Nido!!!!

Cathy,
We stayed at the Au Relais Rivoli in Sorrento last spring. It's a small hotel in the heart of the shopping area in Sorrento. There's no need for a shuttle. The train, bus and ferry are an easy walk from the hotel. They have a family room so all 4 of you would be able to stay in one room. It was nice to be able to pop in and out of the hotel whenever needed. The hotel is very clean. The rooms and bathrooms were big and they serve a decent breakfast.
