We will be in Florence for 4 nights mid-June, and I am wondering what is the best place to view the sunset?
I am thinking Piazzale Michelangelo. Are there any suggestions for somewhere better?

That would be my choice.
I agree with Kathy
San Miniato al Monte is right nearby.
Thanks!
San Miniato al Monte is right nearby.
This is the church above Piazzale Michelangelo, right?
You could take the bus up to Fiesole.
Otherwise I'd second San Miniato
I'll Third San Miniato.

Yep, and that would be another great spot. Heck, you can easily do them both and I'd highly advise it as the church is very old and interesting. No visiting - as in roaming around the church - during mass services though unless going JUST to enjoy that service.
There are some cafes around the piazza area for a sit-down with a beverage. We grabbed a table at one of them after sort of a long day on our feet and enjoyed the break. :O)

That sounds perfect! Sunset won't be until around 9:00 mid June in Florence, so a drink with a view is right up my alley!
Thanks everyone!
Is the cafe on top the Rinascente department store open in the evening?

The church website states open hours as:
https://www.sanminiatoalmonte.it/contatti/
Monday-Saturday 9: 30 -13:00, and 15: 00 - 19:00, to 19:30 during the summer.
Sundays 8:15 -19: 00, to 19: 30 in the summer.
Services:
Sundays and holidays: 8.30am, 10.00am, 11.30am and 5.30 pm.
The 17:30 celebration is in Latin and in Gregorian chant.
Weekdays: 7:15 and 17:45, in Latin and in Gregorian chant.
The Latin/Gregorian services are reported to be wonderful, even for non-religious types. It was a Florence highlight for a dear friend of mine who doesn't 'do' religion but is a lover of music and very-old churches. :O)
The Gregorian chants sound very interesting! I wish they did a later service so I could coincide it with sunset!
