Best Place to Stay in Vernazza

We will be staying in Vernazza for 3-days toward the end of October. Would like a nice place, cost isn't as important as comfort. Suggestions?

Betsi - Right on The Harbor next to Al Castello

http://www.nerinarooms.it/ A Beautiful lcoation and a great base of operations from where you can see Le Cinque Terre for three days.

Betsi - I think really that everyone has "their place" when it comes to Vernazza especially. We stayed with Maria Capellini and had a great time. There are a lot of good choices and most have pros/cons. I would suggest that you use tripadvisor.com to get a larger sample size to help you zero in on the right one for you.

This past July we spent 4 nights in Vernazza in Francamaria's room #1. Great harbor views and hardly any steps.

Thank you all,

I've been combing Rick's Italy book and cruising through all of the online sites. Your suggestions are helpful. I think we'll look for fewer steps as we've both sprained one of our knees in the last week getting in shape for hiking the Cinque Terra!

If you are having knee problems, I recommend hiking only the two southernmost portions of the Cinque Terre trails. The other two sections have lots of steps (LOTS!) and are a challenge even to people with ok knees.

Betsi, Swan has a good suggestion, the hike from Riomaggiore to Corneglia is pretty easy, but the other two are "natural stairmaster" like my husband called them! Have fun!

Hi Betsi,
I just returned from Vernazza. WE booked a room with Monica Lercari. WE were in the Blue Room which was very tiny but for us it worked. She has another room which is larger and has a view. She treated us quite well.
