Best place to spend Christmas in Italy?

Hello! My husband and I are traveling to Italy Dec 17 - Jan 1, flying in and out of Rome. The only solid plan we have is to be in Rome Dec 27 - Jan 1 for a wedding, everything else is TBD. He's been to Italy and covered the main cities/regions, this is my first trip! The only other definite is that we will go to Florence at some point. Once we figure out Christmas, we'll plan the rest of the trip.

I'm trying to figure out where we should be over the Christmas holidays (Dec 24 - Dec 27), any suggestions? Our top priority is finding great meals. Anyone know what a small town in Tuscany or on the Amalfi coast be like during this time of year?

Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated! If you have specific restaurants, lodging, adventures, etc. to recommend - please share!

Thank you!
Sonya

Every Christmas season we are in Naples, Amici Miei one of our top restaurants in Italy; seafood at La Scialuppa. We used to go to Salerno for the lights [Luci d'Artista], but last time they were scaled way back. Sorrento is very pleasant.

Four nights, one location. Rome there are a numerous great restaurants.
