Where is the best place to pick up a car rental leaving Venice to drive to Tuscany? What car rental agency would you suggest? We will be driving from Venice to Tuscany.
I'd sugggest booking through Autoeurope and picking up at Piazzale Roma. Easy to get out of Venice and onto the Autostrada.
Just be very careful driving on the causeway over to the mainland.
They have radar cameras, and they'll ticket you for 1 mph over the speed limit. Venice is a speed trap.
Hope you now can avoid what I went through to pay a ticket almost a year later.
Piazzale Roma.
We picked up our rental car this past August at Piazzale Roma and it was very convenient and easy. We reserved through AutoEurope and the rental agency was Europcar. We also used AutoEurope & Europcar in '09 for the Tuscany portion of our trip. Remember to take your driver license with you and to get an International Drivers Permit as well (got ours at AAA). Have a great trip.
Thank you - this is great!
I picked up my rental car from Sixt Car Rental in Mestre, which is just across the causeway from Venice. Very easy, we took the very short train ride from Venice across the causeway to Mestre, then walked about a block to to the Sixt parking lot/rental office. From there it was a very easy drive out of town. Now I'm planning another trip to Italy and this time I will drive to Mestre and drop off my rental car there, and take the quick train into Venice.
