Best place in Italy for a tourist during Easter

We will visit Italy in April, and heard that Easter is a big holiday there and many cities/towns will be virtually closed down. Where should we visit during this period of time - Is Cinque Terre a viable option? Any other suggestions?

I'll be in Rome and Florence for Easter also. I've heard that there are actually special openings on both Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. They don't release the schedule until a week before hand. Restaurants, shops, etc. should be open...some will close but the cities don't shut down is what I'm finding out.

Since you mentioned it go to Cinque Terre and if you like outdoors stuff hike one of the trails. Monterosso to Vernazza is not too hard and you get some amazing views. The best thing I found from being in Europe on a Easter Sunday is that there were not many tourists or locals crowding a place so you can really go somewhere and have the place to yourself.
