Best place for access to Cinque Terre

I am having a devil of a time finding a place to stay right in the Cinque Terre for 3 nights, Oct 2-5. Is Deiva Marina too far? Any alternatives, things can look deceiving on the maps. Grazie :)

Lynn, did you really try every place in the 5 villages? You can send a request to every hotel, B&B, affitacamere, etc. using this website: http://www.cinqueterre.it/info.php?cat=4847dd705da2e And I'll bet that the ones that have vacancy on those dates will respond. It's worth a try. You might also check in Levanto, which is nearby and a short train ride in.

Oct 2 is a Saturday night. In many places, Fri and Sat nights are booked together. This may be why you are having a problem. You could do what I have done: stay a night in La Spezia, then get a reservation for the other 3 nights in one of the 5 towns.

I never heard of Deiva Marina. Maybe someone else has.

There are trains up and down the coast all day. Many people stay in Levanto because it is the next spot north, but Deiva Marina is only about 15 minutes farther on the train.

Lynn: The Cinque Terre is just the Five Villages: from south to north, these are Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso (al Mare). Other villages aren't really part of the Cinque Terre.

I live in Netherlands and use Booking.com extensively. Never had a problem. It is the most well-known reservation site in Europe, and particular ideal for independent hotels (those not showing on Expedia or Travelocity, for instance). Levanto is a good place to stay too.

Lynn, you might try Mar-Mar Rooms in Riomaggiore. They have a number of properties in that village, so I'd be surprised if all of them are booked, especially at that time of year. I'm not familiar with "Deiva Marina", but would suggest staying in one of the five villages if possible. You could also try www.torrrettas.com in Manarola. Check the Guidebooks for listing in Monterosso (which will probably be your best bet) or Vernazza. Good luck!

Lynn try www.acasa5terre.it I know someone who stayed 3 nights this past April in apt. Francesca rented through here, located in Manarola. They were very pleased with it and paid 130 euros/night. Apt. had a balcony too. Good luck!

Lynn, I am planning a trip for four to the Cinque Terre, October 21-23, 2010. I just got a reservation for a wonderful room at Albergo Barbara in Vernazzo, sea/harbor view. I saw a picture of this hotel in an advertisement.....gorgeous view!! Carol

Lynn did you try all places in R.Steves' book? We stayed at Francamaria's in July 2009 for 4 nights, rm. 1 with great harbor view and only a few steps. www.francamaria.com Would stay here again!
