best pizzas in Rome and/or Florence

Where are the best Italian pizzas in Rome? The ones that are as uniquely Italian as the baguettes are in Paris. Also, are there any 'to die for' pizzas in florence? If you have experienced them, it would be mucho appreciated if you would share your finds!

If you are comparing pizza to baguettes in France, you're right on track. The best pizza is at the stand on the corner near your hotel.

Like baguettes, pizza are a standard item at Italian food counters.

But they are nothing like the standard Am pizza and, I assume, Canadian pizza. You really want to go to Naples.

You don't have to go to Naples if you're in the Oltrarno area of Florence. My husband (Sicilian/Italian) found Pizzeria Il Tiratoio at Piazza De Nerli to be the most authentic pizzas outside of Naples. We spent 10 days hunting for good pizza in Florence and found it on day 9.

But we found the gelato on day one: GROM (organic and slow food) located near the Duomo at Via dele Oche 24a. Find it everyday.

...and when you eat pizza like an Italian, fold the slice in half (long sides together) and eat it from the point up.
