Ohhh, it's getting close and I'll bet you are excited!

I'll tell you that on 11 Rick Steves tours there were very few who even knew about the forum, much less participated! I hope someone pops up that is on your tour, though!

So...are you packed yet, lol??

Looking at your dates, looks like you'll get there a day ahead which is an excellent plan. There is a lot to see in Venice and just walking around is amazing!

If you are up early on your first morning, go out and get some shots in the Venice morning light. It's amazing. I am not a photographer (iPhone level only!) but it is gorgeous and kind of golden. You'll thank your lucky stars digital cameras were invented because you'd have to have a separate duffel bag to take home all your exposed rolls of film, lolol!!

I do suggest you do a trial pack ahead of time and get your toiletries sorted. I used to be a fairly quick packer but honestly with the time off travel from Covid I lost my touch when I traveled last Fall. I suggest at least doing a full trial pack about 2 weeks before you go. I don't know where you are staying and you may know this. but the bridges in Venice are steps instead of ramps so you have to pick your case up and over every one. Not sure how far your first hotel is from the dock.

What's your plan for getting from the airport to your hotel?

awesome, thanks for the tip :)
i plan on just taking the shuttle bus from the airport to Piazzale Roma. then i'll hop on a boat and get off at rialto mercado stop. i'm staying at Pensione Guerrato on Sunday night. this is where we are booked for the tour also.

yeah, i see a lot of people talking about "practice packing" in the forums and i was planning on doing that as well.
