Signed up for the Best of Southern Italy tour. On Day 8, we have a free day, but it is vague about where on the Amalfi Coast we stay (other than we take a boat ride). Would a day trip to Positano be doable that day? Plan to use the public bus they mention. Thanks!

We just took that tour and stayed in a small town called Maiori. Your guide (and the RS book) will help with suggestions for things to do. My husband and I took the boat ride to Positano (you have to change in Amalfi). Others went to Ravello, and others just stayed in Maiori and relaxed on the beach.
The boat ride was very crowded and chaotic. So was Positano!

We took the southern Italy tour 5 years ago and we stayed 2 nights in Positano. We enjoyed the town, especially at night. It is unfortunate that the existing tours do not stay there.

IMHO, Positano is best from a distance - like from a boat. I would get to Ravello - maybe hire a driver or private guide for the day. The garden of Villa Cimbrone is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.

We took this Tour in 2019. We stayed in Positano and hired a private driver to take us to Ravello for most of the day. You can visit Positano if staying in Maori--take the Ferry or the Bus (you may have to catch the bus in Amalfi...not sure)
