We will be traveling to Palermo for the Best of Sicily Tour in October 2026. Departing out of Seattle, which airline would you recommend? Is there a hub city that is easier to catch a flight to and from Palermo? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
I'm doing this in April from Seattle for the same tour. I ended up going British Airways (award redemption) from Seattle to Rome, connecting flights at LHR. Spending two nights in Rome. Then ITA from Rome to Palmero on a separate ticket. I wanted to visit Naples (Pompeii) on the way home so I have another flight from Catania to Naples, 3 nights there, train (2 hours) to Rome Airport, and then an Alaska flight(award redemption) nonstop back to Seattle.
Now that Alaska Airlines has a nonstop from Seattle to Rome available, you may want to consider this. I found it less expensive to do the roundtrip from Seattle to Rome and separate tickets for the trips to and from Sicily. I wouldn't try to make the connections for separate tickets on the same day.
Delta as a SEA to FCO direct but it's only seasonal so I'm not sure if October is bueno. Alternatively, think of it as two flights; one to Southern or Central Europe liked with a second flight to Palermo. So where can you get direct from SEA? Here's a site with a searchable list of all of the places with Direct Flights to Palermo. https://www.flightsfrom.com/PMO
Once you get to Europe, it's cheap and easy to get a flight to PMO. The flights within Europe are really pretty cheap are are just fine. We've been flying through Spain, for example
