we have been to Rome and Venice. So, which is better, and why if possible, between these two? thanks.
To get your replies started, we’ve had people in our local monthly meet up who have gone to one or the other of these tours. When they have returned from the Italy Village tour, they rave about it! One couple even went on it twice. When others have come back from the Sicily tour, they’ve commented that it was nice. So a definite difference in enthusiasm.
I’ve stayed in almost all of the locations on the Village tour, and love them for the atmosphere, history, wonderful food, etc. I will be in Sicily next year, so I can’t give you a fair contrast, yet.
We have taken both tours (yes, Village Italy twice lol), and enjoyed the Village Italy tour quite a bit more than Sicily. But that said, comparing the two tours is a bit like “apples and oranges”….so many historical, geographical, culinary and cultural differences between the two areas. The VI tour seems a bit more relaxed, as you’re not spending time in larger cities like Palermo and Catania…the vibe is just completely different. Sicily is amazing, and because the tour literally covers a lot of ground, we often felt rushed. In our case, the guides made a huge difference as well. So I would say that neither tour is “better”, just vastly different…and so your choice would probably depend on your interests and preferences.
thanks for the response. That is a great distinction for consideration in regards to feeling rushed vs. relaxed!!!!! We talked about our options and have instead opted for the Best of Portugal even though there is a waiting list for next fall.
