Best of Italy Fall 2020-Weather considerations?

Need help balancing temperatures in higher altitude and cooler Lake Como and Dolomites with lower altitudes and warmer weather in Tuscany and Rome. Mid September to October seems the best temperature balance but the tour cost drops $200 each the end of September. Is this a significant concern or am I over thinking this? Also, Is Rome during the week better than weekends? We are staying over in Rome for an extra 2 nights at the end of the tour.

I already answered part of your question in your other question. There is a break in the total number of tourists by the end of Sep into the Fall. That is our preferred time of travel mid-Sep to end of Oct. But days are getting noticeably shorter and some sites will have short hours. For us, that is fine because we don't push too hard. And the weather, generally is cooler and dryer.

I prefer October and find it plenty warm. Remember that the tour visits the northern stops first.

We alway travel in October for all our European trips. Less tourists & great weather!

We took this tour October 1-17 a couple years ago and the weather was wonderful. The Dolomites were quite chilly in the mornings, but not bad. Rome was warm but not unbearable in mid-October, so I don't think we would have wanted to be there much earlier.
