Hello! We are excited for our upcoming trip. We are from Washington and recently moved here from Oregon. We noticed there are two other couples from Washington in our group and one from Portland, Oregon. If any of you are on this forum, we'd love to "meet" you online before the trip begins. We've never been to Europe before and if any of you are seasoned travelers, we'll take whatever advice you have. We've traveled in other countries, including Ethiopia, Liberia and China, so we're not completely new to international travel. But those trips were work related. We haven't traveled internationally just for fun yet. Now that we're retired, Europe here we come!
If you travel to Italy before the day your tour starts, you’ll find that there will be several other folks from your tour at the hotel. So if nobody notices this announcement, you might still get a chance to meet people in advance. Just keep your eyes open at the hotel.
Not on your tour but I can't resist congratulating you on your retirement and wishing you the happiest of trips. I know you will have a wonderful time. The advice to "look around" at your hotel is good. I've met several tour mates by simply asking if they were there for the tour as well.
We are on this tour beginning on September 7 and are looking forward to it too. You might have better luck posting this message under the Rick Steves Tour tab.
Thanks everyone for the great advice and well wishes.
