Best Non- Tourist Pizza in Naples

My wife and I will be visiting Naples in October and we were wondering where we could find the best pizza place that locals frequent. Thanks in advance!

Having been there as a tourist, I can't guarantee that it's not a tourist place, but my favorite pizza in Naples was at Pizzeria 400 Gradi. There was a big crowd of food delivery guys waiting for pizzas and a tiny seating area where some customers were speaking English but others spoke Italian. This place ruined me in that I had one of the best pizzas of my life for €4 and everything remotely comparable in my area is $18 or more!

We have gone here many times in the 15 years I visited my daughter in Napoli. You’ll find few folks who are not locals. Just around the corner and down the street are the very famous crowded places most tourist go. Have tried them and this place is a winner. Plus, is their full menu.

Thanks periscope! Put the right one in.

Edit small outside seating, full restaurant up stairs has AC

Good catch @periscope.

I suspect any locals you see there who are not speaking English are probably hablando español...

After many trips to Napoli, my experience has been that the locals eat the pizza they like, wherever it may be, although I think they avoid
da Michele, as do I now that it has become so well known.

Almost PERISCOPE! Now that I have gone to pizza school in Napoli AND have my own pizza oven at home!

That link is for a Naples, Florida restaurant - I think the OP was more looking for Naples, Italy suggestions.

Ah...Naples, Florida, the home of the overpriced everything.

Spaghetti sauteed with fresh tomato, mushrooms, pancetta, peas, parmigiano cheese $28.

In Italy, 12 euros tops.

Starita, Brandi and Da Michele (that is full of tourists, but not for tourists).

I agree with Rachele. We were in Sicily and with the exception of one restaurant, I make better pizza at home. I'd say part of it is just preference, but also, over the years, I have come up with a recipe/process that works well for us. That said, some day, I'd like to taste pizza in Naples.

Jules M - I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to imply that my pizza is better! Only that like Periscope, I may be getting tired of Margarita pizza especially since I can now make something similar at home. But personally I will always prefer Italian pizza in Italy.
Good luck Roberto!

if you really want to pursue this, check out the episodes of the Stanley Tucci and Alex Polizzi travel shows where they visit Naples.

Roberto, I hear Osteria Olive Garden is wonderful. I think it is near the Napoli Mall.

I could eat pizza in Naples every day for the rest of my life. It’s perfect. We like Di Matteo and Dal Presidente.

Piling on . . . . I have eaten better pizza in Rome, Venice and Salerno than in Naples - where I went to da Michele in mid-February, well out of tourist season and there were plenty folks lining up, so presumably some of them were locals, especially at lunchtime.

For simple and delicious local food (but not pizza), try Antica Trattoria Da Carmine, recommended to me by our sorely missed Zoe.

Even Vapiano (a German company) makes excellent pizza, and you can have it anywhere..... but it doesn't have the caché of being in Naples, which I completely understand... to mash up a common proverb - when in Naples do what Neapolitans do (which is of course to scarf many and assorted sfogliatella)...
