Best meal. Venice or Milan?

So my dad and I are both cooks. I'm on my honeymoon in Italy and for a wedding gift my dad said find the best place to have dinner and he'd foot the bill no matter what.

So. Money no object where would you go in Venice or Milan? The two cities we have left on the trip. RS 2009 sounds like osteria Alle testiere is the winner.

We did the Il caminetto cooking class today and are eating at il cavatappi tomorrow. Will be tough to beat I'm sure.

Have to confess, Patrick, this is my very first encounter with the words "best meal" and "Venice" in the same sentence! I don't have a specific rec to make (sure others will), but I would vote emphatically for Milano, not Venice, when it comes to a nice dinner.

That's what I kind of thought. I've not heard Venice associated with food in the past. Unfortunaley RS does not have much guidance is his book about high cusine in Milan (which I would not expect). But he almost has more glowing recomendstions for Venice?

Anyhow. Any Milanese suggestions?

you may want to look around at chowhound.com

da Fiore maybe in Venice...Ristorante MET Venezia has a Michelin star (www.hotelmetropole.com)...Cracco Peck in Milan (I did read it may be closed in August however)

buon appetito

Why not ask someone in Milan where they go for very special occasions, for dinner? Ideally, someone outside of the tourist-hotel industry?
