Any hotel, or B&B suggestions for Florence... On a Budget. Want to be near all.
Casa Rabbati is somewhat close to all but not near it all. We stayed at the Hotel Basilea which is about one block from Casa Rabbati. We had a private bath and could use our credit card. No CC at Casa Rabbati and I'm not sure about private facilities.
That being said, it's north of the main train station (5-6 blocks). It's about 6 blocks to il Duomo and about the same to the Accademia. It's farther to the Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio and the nice shopping areas. But, it's quite walkable. My wife was wearing a pedometer and we walked about 6 miles during our daily walk arounds. Not bad overall. Also, you would be one block from a laundromat. We pack light and do some laundry during our longer trips. It worked out well.
Try Affittecamere FredaLucia on Via Zenobi, near the train station
Check out Hotel Britania which faces the Arno near the Trinita bridge and close to Ponte Vecchio. We found it to be walking distance to almost everything.
Il Salotto di Firenze, located in front of the Baptistry at Piazza Duomo. It's located right in the center of things. It's a very nice place to stay and very reasonably priced, I think.
hotel silla in oltrano section.. very good
We stayed at Casa Rabatti a month ago and enjoyed it very much.
It's not central, that's true, but Florence is small enough that you can walk anywhere. (if you want to walk alot, which we did!)
Hotel Sole, a Rick recommended place, is a good bargain. More of a B&B. Centrally located halfway between the train station & the Uffizi.
We stayed at Hotel Maxim (in Rick's book). Centrally located. Very helpful staff, nice room, very quiet.
Here ya go..
