Best Itinerary for one week before a Rome cruise (RT)

Hello all! I am taking mywife for our anniversary on a cruise (10day HAL RT Roman Empire) and desire to see a little of Switzerland and Italy first. We arrive in Zurich on the 19th of August and board ship on the 26th at the latest 1600 at Civettavechia. As a teenager i saw the magnificent Berner Oberland and would like to show my wife this incredible spot. Your thoughts? Thanks!

In 2010, we flew into Rome and immediately got on a train for Florence where we spent two nights and 2 1/2 days. We stayed at a B&B right across from the baptistery (recommended by Rick). We toured the Uffuzzi, (incredible Rennaissance art) the Accademia (David), the Ponte Vecchio, 463 stairs to the top of the Duomo (spectacular) and much more. We then took a bus to Siena for two nights, a fantastic medieval town, so much fun, the duomo is spectacular! Then another bus to Rome where we stayed two nights before boarding our ship. There we saw the National Museum, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum, the Forum, Palatine Hill, Piazza Navona, The Vatican and more, incredible! I would do this again in a heartbeat, and recommend it to anyone and everyone. The cruise ship stopped in Livorno, where most people went to Florence, but since we had already been there, we were able to take a tour to the Cinque Terre, gorgeous, and unique. We ended our 12 day cruise in Venice, and stayed a couple extra days there, such a beautiful special city. I highly recommend any and all of these amazing places. Good luck deciding where to go!
