Best Italian Beach Area/Town

I have posted some topics debating between French Riveria and Italian Riveria. We decided to travel to Italy after a 5 day trip to Paris. I was just reading an article in CondeNast titled Great Beaches of the World: Italy. It talks about three beach areas that I am considering and need your help. We went to Positano last summer and this is the type of beach town we are looking for. I know the beaches are not typically sandy which does not concern me. I am looking for a great scene, restaurants and small town feel. The three choices are Sardinia , Italian Riviera or Tuscany (maremma). Does anyone have any suggestions? I would like some suggestions from the above areas...thanks :)

Italian Riveria is a large area and encompasses a lot of coast, from Genoa on down to Cinque Terre. Did Conde Nast mention any town in particular for a great beach?

Sardinia of course is an island, so you have to take a ferry, but I've heard good thing about it from friends who have been 9mostly for hiking).
