Here’s where I stayed in September.
The Hotel Corona d’Oro is a wonderful hotel with extraordinary hospitality, a wonderful breakfast, and they are located just two blocks from the two towers which makes it handy to everything I wanted to do, plus safe in the evening.
We stayed in Hotel Corona d’Oro in 2024 - great location, wonderful staff and lovely breakfast room.
Recommend staying in the historic center if possible. If you’ll have a car, recommend The Savhotel.
We had a car so we picked Hotel Porta Mamolo because of the included parking and the close proximity to the city center + its peaceful location near the greenery in the southern part of town.
If my budget were to stretch to the Grand Hotel Majestic già Baglioni, that's where I'd be.
Me, too, the Baglioni!
We stayed, NOT at the Baglioni, unfortunately, but at HOTEL ROMA, in the center. It was fine. BUT we paid about 100 euro and a quick look on TA shows that prices have quadrupled since I was there in the early 2000s. Scary!
Take a look, maybe that price is not accurate. Keep in mind all the feries in that city, that cause prices of hotels to rise.
We stayed at Casa Bertagni this past May. We had a huge room; breakfast buffet was one of the best of our trip; and the staff is outstanding. The hotel is located in the university district which is a very interesting neighborhood. Lots of university students out and about, so you are not only with tourists. It's about a 15-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore. Staying here gave us the opportunity to see a part of Bologna that is not filled with tourists.
Albergo Garisenda It's a family-run hotel located in the city center. It was our base for five nights as we explored Bologna and Emilia-Romagna.
Its seven rooms are modest, and its lobby and halls are charmingly appointed. You can view the famous towers of Bologna from the terrace and easily walk to major sites.
The husband and wife who own Albergo Garisenda are welcoming and attentive, and their knowledge of the region and passion for the city are evident.
