Best hotel near Fiumicino Airport

My husband and I have an early morning flight out of Fiumicino Airport on Dec. 25, 2019. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel near the airport that we can stay Christmas Eve? We will need one that also has a restaurant since we will be eating Christmas Eve dinner on the 24th.

There's a Hilton attached to the airport, about 10 minutes walk to the terminals. It has a restaurant, which I expect would be open every day but you'd better check the website. There are lots of other hotels nearby, some cheaper, but none as convenient to the airport.

I’m in agreement with the previous posters. We haven’t stayed at the Hilton at FCO, but more and more I’m opting for at-airport hotels for the night before early departures. We have stayed at the in-airport hotels in Copenhagen, Paris, and Athens. It’s a major stress reducer. One advantage is that you can probably get an extra half hour or more sleep time. Particularly in your case, with that night being a major holiday, I’d go for the Hilton. You probably can get an acceptable, if not memorable, meal in their restaurant; and you can probably get served earlier than would be the case elsewhere.

In May 2019 I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Rome Airport. I would stay here again, it has a bar, restaurant and frequent free shuttle service. Their website has details on the shuttle service.

If you use the search Travel Forum /Italy search and search for “Hilton Garden Inn Rome Airport” there is a discussion dated August 2019 where I posted more details on this hotel.

The nice thing about the onsite (full Hilton brand product) is that you can walk a few steps to an outdoor elevator that takes you to one end of the indoor concourses to all flights. (Can be long walks involved, like any airport.)

Against it, is the high pricing, and the long lines to check in and out. We also had a room with elevator shaft noise. We also found that the restaurant closed too early for us to get any food. (We'd spent the day in Tuscany and then driven to the Hilton FCO.) I forget, but maybe 8PM or 9PM. On a holiday in Italy, I would TELEPHONE not email the hotel and ask about Christmas Eve dining hours. Even at an off-airport hotel with a shuttle, I wonder about real restaurant hours nearby on Christmas Eve.

For our past two trips to Italy, we have stayed here: https://domuslina.it/ They do speak English. It is a 10 minute drive on a simple back road to the airport, so no major traffic. Can also take a taxi from here easily. Not the crazy price of being at the airport.

The restaurant in the neighborhood I would recommend is very reasonably priced and is VERY high end, so you need to make reservations ahead of time. https://osteriadellorologio.net/

Can't answer the question about Christmas eve activity. Please call or email them to find out.

I stayed at the Hotel Tiber in Fiumicini, about 10 mins from the airport by taxi. Hotel will arrange for taxi to airport. Nice seafood restaurant (the fishing boats moor on the river just over the road from the hotel) and other restaurants are close by.. way cheaper than a hotel right at airport.,
