Best GPS for Italy and Canada

Hi Everyone, last year we rented a car with gps. We decided to buy one this year as we have trips to both Italy and Canada planned. I was able to use my phone gps last year in Sicily but need a reliable back up.
What do you think is the bset on the market today?

I used a Garmin 2559LMT, includes North America & Europe, lifetime free updates. I paid $239 on Amazon a few months ago.

I will second Garmin. I have used mine in both Canada and Italy. You can download Garmin's PC/MAC computer mapping program (BaseCamp) and plot out the routes you want and or choose the places you want to stop while at home (not cramped in the car). After you do that, you can transfer the routes/stops to the Garmin GPS device.

We have used a Garmin GPS every year since 2008 and have found them to reliable. However, you must also bring along a sense of humor because they can lead you on some interesting field trips while they bring you onto your destination. A good map is also helpful.

My current Garmin is the 2595LTM with the European SD micro card disc. We purchased the SD card several years ago and, unfortunately, they cannot be updated. We experienced new road construction last summer in northern Italy that was not on our SD card. We knew something was different and we were able to correct our course because we were familiar with the area.

We bought the Garmin and the SD card on Amazon at a better price than Garmin and it included free shipping.

Buon viaggio,
.
