Florence is closest, but Tuscany is nicely central so probably anywhere with good airfare. Milan, Brescia, Venice, Rome, Pisa could all work.

Geographically,Pisa is the closest, but usually not the cheapest.

Not sure where in tuscany you're staying, but if it's southern tuscany, it might be cheapest to fly into rome. Flying into smaller airports (i.e. pisa, florence) is often more expensive, especially in the summer.

If you are looking for any U.S. airlines that fly into the Tuscany area, there are very few. Delta does fly into Pisa from JFK but that's about it from the U.S. Rome and Milan airports are the closest with access from the U.S. But, there are other great choices. From Chicago, Swiss Air is showing some great saver fares to Florence at $458 (not round trip). I would suggest that Florence is the better gateway to Tuscany. Swiss Air will fly you into Zurich where you change planes to go to Florence. Lufthansa will do the same but you change planes in Frankfurt (we've done this one). Air France, British Airways and others will do the same with plane changes in their home countries. Once in in Florence, you simply get your luggage and walk out the door. Immigration takes place at your initital stop. Then, you get onto the Volainbus at the airport and it will take you to the SITA bus terminal. At the SITA bus terminal, you get on the bus to Siena or San Gimignano and you are in the heart of Tuscany in 90 minutes. Next question. Will you be returning to Ohio from Tuscany or are you traveling elsewhere. If elsewhere, you might want to arrange to fly into Florence but to depart from another airport.
