If by best you mean shortest, then the Turin-Alessandria-Genoa-Pisa fits the bill.

The port town of Rapallo is not a long detour from the E80 highway. Rapallo's waterfront and colorful architecture is very similar to S. Margherita Ligure, though the rest of the city is larger. Short term parking was easy to find in the off season.
